KPMG and NIIT Imperia launches taxation courses

KPMG in India and NIIT Imperia on Wednesday announced a collaboration to launch three taxation programmes to meet the growing training need of finance, accounting and taxation professionals in India.

The three courses are certificate course in tax regulation, advanced course in tax regulation and diploma in tax regulation. The courses will be rolled out in 30 NIIT Imperia centres across the country from February. KPMG's senior professionals will use NIIT's tools and technology to deliver training.

The courses have been designed to bridge the gap between theory and practice, and to prepare the tax professionals for proposed regulations of the goods and service tax (GST) and the direct tax code (DTC).

"With India standing on the threshold of major tax reforms, there is an increased demand for knowledgeable and well-versed tax experts. The collaboration will aim to cater to this demand by helping create a pool of professionals who would be equipped to deal with legislative and practical aspects of taxation and also be prepared for the new tax regime," said Uday Ved, head of tax, KPMG in India.

NIIT's chief executive (career building solutions) G. Raghavan said these programmes will provide an ideal platform to accounts and finance professionals who wish to gain unique insights in the field of taxation.

Earlier, NIIT Imperia and KPMG had launched an one-and-a-half month advanced certificate programmes on IFRS to help companies and individuals transition from Indian GAAP to IFRS. This programme has already trained over 1,000 professionals in the last two years.
